Tell you what? I was already completely hooked with Hanna-Barbera's TV version of 'The Smurfs' and eventually got the first season DVD set.
I really enjoyed the start of the series with the special 'The Smurfette' of when evil Gargamel (voiced by late Paul Winchell) originally created her as part of his revenge of getting back at the Smurfs for many problems they create for him. But all is changed when Papa Smurf undid her original looks into more of a beautiful woman that capture many Smurf men's hearts which gets crazy!
In the end, Smurfette saved everyone from Gargamel's trap and is made a warm welcome to the village ever since.
To tell you, my personal views on the series as really enjoyable to watch as well as seeing lots of Smurfs around. (Whatever it's Handy, Smurfette, Papa Smurf, Brainy, Jokey, Clumsy and lots more)
And about the upcoming 2011 movie, I just seen the trailer and thought "Looks like we have not just get 'Yogi Bear' then...."
So at the moment, I'll might prefer the TV Series done by Hanna-Barbera as they have done a brilliant job for adapting the comics by the creator of 'The Smurfs' named Peyo.
